Northern New England has an opportunity to help restore federal funding for Baldrige

If you believe that Baldrige is one of America's best investments, please read on because those of us in Northern New England have a unique opportunity to make a difference.

The Baldrige Foundation is working to restore federal funding for the Baldrige Program in the FY2017 Budget.    This process began with the Senate and House Appropriations Committees.   Both Senator Shaheen (NH) and Senator Leahy (VT) are members of the Senate Committee and have been contacted.  We now need everyone in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont to contact their Congressman (House or Representatives) and ask them to sign-on to Congressman Sam Graves' Appropariation request for Baldrige.  Gongressman Graves is leading this fight for us and he needs the support of his colleagues - our member of congress.    Please email your congress person using the information and documents provided to indicate your support for this small amount of funding that will make a tremendous difference to our country.

We appreciate you taking the time to support Baldrige. The $7.5 million appropriations request for restoration of federal funding combined with the Baldrige Foundation's financial support assures the Baldrige Program’s continued reach across key sectors of the economy, including health care and education, and strengthens the formal nation-wide network of state and regional programs.

Instructions for contacting your congressman:

  • Explain to them the importance of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and ask them to support the Baldrige Program in the Fiscal Year 2017 appropriations (Text copy and PDF copy attached).
Feel free to add how the Baldrige Program affected you or your organization.

If you have any questions please contact anne@gsqc.com

Thank You!

Baldrige Named a Top Leadership Development Program

The Baldrige Program has been ranked as a top 2011-2012 Leadership Development Program by Leadership Excellence magazine.  Baldrige was ranked 11th in the list of government/military leadership training programs along side of others such as the Navy Seals, Army Rangers, and West Point.

The magazine used survey responses, interviews, and site visits to evaluate the programs.  Organizational rankings were based on seven criteria: vision/mission, involvement/participation, accountability/measurement, design/content/curriculum, presenters/presentations/delivery, take home value, and outreach.

The GSQC provides Baldrige training in New Hampshire.  Click here to for an overview of our training programs and contact us for more information.

Update on the future of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program

Posted in

The following is an update on the future of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program (BPEP).  An appropriations bill has been passed that includes no federal funding for the program in 2012, however it is important to note that the program will be funded by the Baldrige Foundation while a long-term model to sustain the mission of Baldrige is explored.  This change does not impact the GSQC as we have no federal or state funding and we look forward to contributing to the future of Performance Excellence in New Hampshire and nationally.  We will continue to provide updates on the future of the Baldrige Program as they are available.

"America Needs Baldrige!" Day

09/08/2011 12:00 am
09/08/2011 11:59 pm

Please join us on Thursday, September 8th to let our New Hampshire Congressional Delegation know that

There is currently no funding for the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program in the proposed 2012 budget.   The main reason for this is that the value and impact of the program is not understood.  It is unfortunately seen as an "Awards Program" and not as the ultimate resource for efficiency and high performance in all of our organizations.  If anything, we need more Baldrige to support the country in managing our fiscal challenges.  While it is reasonable to take a close look at the Program to understand if changes in how it is managed are warranted, a sudden cut in the funding will cost the country more than the approximate $10m budget.  Remember that the Baldrige Program is a public-private partnership that engages thousands of volunteers to support high performance in our schools, hospitals, government, nonprofits, and businesses.

What can each of us do?

  • go to www.congress.org
  • Enter your home zip code (and street address if requested)
  • Click on each of your elected officials to get their contact information
  • On Thursday, September 8th, between 9am and 6pm call, fax, and/or email your senators and congress member.  The best message you can provide is your personal insight to the value of Baldrige.

The two attached files provide some answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and additional information on why America Needs Baldrige.

Thank you for joining us in communicating why
